Notice No. 128/2016: WARD COMMITTEE MEMBER NOMINATIONS: 2016 – 2021 TERM FOR WARD 1, 3 AND 6

All Community Organisations, Businesses, Educational Institutions, active citizens and all stakeholders with a vested interest in community development and good governance are hereby invited to submit nominations for ward committee candidates that will participate in the elections for new Ward Committees for the 2016 - 2021 term.

The establishment of new Ward Committees will be based on the geographical block/sector representative methodology where in most instances Wards are divided into 5 geographical blocks. Essentially, this methodology allows for 2 Ward Committee Members per block to make up the 10 members per Ward Committee for each ward. The geographical map of each ward, indicating the block boundaries is attached to a prescribed nomination form which is available at all municipal offices and libraries. 

The following criteria applies and will render the nomination valid and credible if:-

• The nominee is registered on the municipal Voter's Roll in the ward for which he or she is nominated for;
• The nominee is residing in the ward and selected block for which he or she is nominated for;
• The nominee is not a Municipal Councillor;
• The nominee is not employed by the Municipality;
• The nominee does not have one or more municipal accounts in his/her name which has been outstanding for more than three months since the closing date for nominations.
