Notice 30/2026: IMPLEMENTATION OF PHASE 4 WATER RESTRICTIONS: 1 MARCH 2026

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 46(1) of the By-Law relating to Water Supply, Notice 148/2005 that the Municipality will impose the following additional water restrictions for Beaufort West with effect from 1 MARCH 2026:-

1. That Phase 4 water restrictions be implemented for Beaufort West with effect from 1 March 2026. 

2. That Phase 4 water tariffs with regards to water restrictions, stipulated in the 2025/2026 tariffs will be applicable to Beaufort West effective from 1 March 2026.

3.That the following additional measures be imposed in terms of Section 46(1)(c) of the By-Law relating to Water Supply, 2005, Notice 148/2005:-

3.1. A complete prohibition on the use of municipal supplied drinking water for any other purpose other than household needs as well as a prohibition on the use of hosepipes connected to the municipal water supply system for any purpose, including but not limited to:

  • Watering of gardens;
  • Washing of vehicles;
  • Filling of swimming pools, dams, or any similar structure.

3.2. That all residents and businesses making use of private borehole water be required to clearly display appropriate signage on their premises indicating that borehole water is being utilised, in order to prevent misperceptions and to support enforcement efforts.

4. That, should sufficient rainfall and replenishment of the Gamka Dam not occur before 1 April 2026, Phase 5 water restrictions, be implemented with maintaining the additional measures in paragraphs 3.1 and 3.2 above as an emergency measure to protect the remaining water resources and ensure continuity of supply.

5. That Phase 5 water tariffs with regards to water restrictions, stipulated in the 2025/2026 tariffs will be applicable to Beaufort West effective from 1 April 2026.
