Registered stakeholders will be invited to participate in the municipal public participation processes on planning and development, budgeting and administrative processes that require public involvement.

The establishment of new Ward Committees will be based on the geographical block/sector representative methodology where in most instances Wards are divided into 5 geographical blocks. Essentially, this methodology allows for 2 Ward Committee Members per block to make up the 10 members per Ward Committee for each ward. The geographical map of each ward, indicating the block boundaries is attached to a prescribed nomination form which is available at all municipal offices and libraries.

Last updated: 12/01/2017In order to ensure free, fair and democratic elections it is required that residents who wish to participate in the elections of Ward Committees register. Registration entails the verification of a resident’s personal details with the official IEC voters roll. Only residents registered on the official IEC voters roll is deemed eligible to participate in the election of Ward Committees.
Please bring along your identity document/card for registration purposes. Registration will commence from 17:00 until 18:30 on the day of the election.

The submission of candidate nominations will close on 11 March 2017. Notice is hereby given that Ward Committee elections are scheduled to take place in all wards on the dates as stipulated in the attached notice.
